I recently read this post; http://convergemagazine.com/engaged-8944/
And this is my response;
Oh puh-lease! How dare you tell a woman her engagement, her future, her love is a "trend" and judge her because she wants to share/document her happiness on social media.
1. Men are not proposing because of the "engagement trend", we're at that age! Everyone is getting engaged, married, or having children..why? Because we're adults, in relationships, which evolve into our future. You truly think a man is proposing his life to one girl just for a trend? Think again.
2. Are women eager to say yes? Duh! What woman doesn't want to marry the love of her life? Be a wife? A mother? And everything that comes with and after getting engaged?
3. You're telling me our moms and grandmother's aren't even the slightest bit envious that we have the opportunity to record such a beautiful moment in our lives? Sure, some take it over the top, but who cares? Not our life. I personally love documenting our life. I love getting on my Time Hop app and seeing what we were doing three years ago with my husban, then boyfriend!
And 4. Our world IS technology. Sad, but true. Marriages aren't falling apart because of Facebook, twitter, or any form of social media. Marriages are falling apart because people are unwilling to work. With technology has come laziness. People find it easier to text than to call. Easier to email, instant message, even fax/scan rather than to hear the other persons voice. You want to stop a "trend", then stop being lazy. Stop letting your engagement, relationship, and marriage be a statistic.
Get engaged, get married, and have a baby. Or don't. Do what YOU want. Do it how you want, in whatever order you choose, be happy within your decisions, and never get LAZY! Simple as that.
